The area of the Bodwar North is underlain by felsic volcanic and sedimentary members of the Upper Triassic to/or Jurassic Sitlika Assemblage regionally metamorphosed to greenschist facies. Lithologically, the occurrence in within a chlorite schist, greywacke, siltstone and phyllite unit of the Sitlika assemblage.

In 2008, Amarc Resources Ltd. conducted a soil sampling program on the Warren grid, which covers the area of the occurrence. Anomalous zinc, copper, lead, and silver values were observed although no specific samples were noted (Assessment Report 29729).

In 2009, Amarc Resources drilled hole 9009 which targeted the continuation of strong zones of zinc mineralization intersected in previous drill holes 8004 and 8005, for which information is not published. Hole 9009 intersected a significantly increased volume of felsic to intermediate flow rocks relative to the earlier drill holes and bottomed in 265 metres of 0.27 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 31438). The interval was from 157.3 to 422.5 metres drill depth.

Drill holes 9010 and 9011 are located approximately 350 and 550 metres, respectively, to the north of hole 9009. These holes were designed to test the extension of the altered felsic volcanic hosted zinc concentrations in previous drill holes. The altered, zinc-enhanced zone was successfully extended by 400 metres. Hole 9010 bottomed in zinc mineralization and did not therefore test the full width of the prospective geological interval. Results from these drillholes included 0.25 per cent zinc over 67.0 metres from 259.7 to 326.7 metres depth in hole 9010, and 0.18 per cent zinc over 106.7 metres from 142.0 to 248.7 metres depth in hole 9011 (Assessment Report 31438).

The distribution and tenor of the zinc mineralization in the drill holes was thought to be compatible with a peripheral VMS depositional environment.
